How To Make Your Toddler Smarter Than You

Child development experts and neuroscientists believe that the intellectual development of your children happens during their childhood days. This is the period when their brains develop more rapidly. Their development could be nurtured and developed early in childhood so that they will grow smart later in life.

Here are ways you can help your children grow smart and even smarter than you:

Read with them.

Science says that reading with them books is one way to make them smart. Begin it early in life, although they don’t understand words yet. The earlier their exposure in language, the better they will be able to have an interest in reading. There are also findings that they are able to succeed in school and in their life when you expose them to reading and learning early.

Talk to your child.

Talk to your child as it develops their language skills. Although your child may not respond or understand your words yet, talking to them can develop their communication and language skills.

Develop your child’s learning process in the crib.

“Giving your child a head start in learning should “start in the crib,” Ronald Ferguson, director of the Achievement Gap Initiative at Harvard University.

Parents should introduce learning activities to their babies while they are still in the crib. Teach them the right attitude to find interest in learning. talking, gesturing, singing, using number games are some ways to cultivate learning.

Introduce the love for music.

Studies have shown that music lessons can make your kids smarter. One research found that kids who studied music have a higher full-scale IQ. The effect of music on intelligence is seen not only on children as well as adults. It is now being studied whether music can benefit older people.

Let your child play.

Aside from reading, playing is one factor that can make your kids smarter. It has been found that after an exercise, people can learn new words 20 percent faster. It is because a healthy body is more perfect for learning.

A German study learned that after three months of exercise, people learned new words 20 percent quicker. The study revealed that their blood flow in the area of the brain responsible for learning and memory had increased by 30 percent.

Put your baby to sleep.

An hour deprivation of sleep is a big factor to make your child a bit slow.

“A loss of one hour of sleep is equivalent to [the loss of] two years of cognitive maturation and development,” according to Dr. Avi Sadeh of Tel Aviv University.

Express love.

Many studies in the past have shown that cuddling, kissing, hugging, playing and interacting with your child has a huge role in improving their intelligence. Positive emotion is linked to intellectual strength. The more you show your little one that you love them, the more they will be smarter than you.

Be an example to your child.

If you want your child to grow smarter than you, you have to lead an example. What they see from you is a big influence in their development. Show them that your interest in cooking, singing, dancing, art, music and doing other things, and they will be like you too.
